VMAA State Field Eastern Official Opening Sunday 8 March 2015

The new VMAA State Field Eastern in Goon Nure near Bairnsdale was officially opened on Sunday 8th March 2015.

BADMAC President Graeme Martin opened proceedings and then handed over to MAAA President Neil Tank. Mayor of the East Gippsland Shire, Councillor Peter Neal also spoke. VMAA President Carl Bizon performed the unveiling of a plaque to commemorate the day.

Remembering Barry James

Chris James presented a specially made bench seat to the club in remembrance of his father Barry James, our late long serving club member who helped design the ACTIO(n) Scale Rally event. The bench back rest is engraved with a propeller, the hub being a cast plaque in memory of Barry.

Life Membership Awards

BADMAC Vice President Bruce Strong presented both Graeme Martin and Brian Hutchinson with Life Memberships in recognition of great service rendered in preparation of our excellent new facilities at State Field Eastern.

First Official Flight

The first official flight to open the new airfield was performed by Tim James, who flew Barry's old Tiger Moth to much applause.

The official duties over with, many impressive RC aircraft models took to the air once again.

A wonderful tribute to our dear Barry. Thanks to his loving family for their generosity towards preserving his memory. He is sadly missed by all.
